** Register
--> To register your client, go to Help --> Register.

--> Copy these settings and then click on: "OK".
Name: Independant
Code: 9320-978866

** Note: This registration code is only for mIRC version 6 and above.
--> If everything goes well, you should be able see this window:

Click on: OK. This window will appear on the screen, for the last time, saying you have a licensed copy.

Even if a newer version is released in the future, you won't have to register again. This is a one-time only registration.
** Register your nickname
Before you can register your nickname, you first need to think of one that hasn't already been registered
by someone else. To find an available nick you have to type the following in your status window:
"/nick nickname".
For example, someone would like to have "kiara" as a nick. So he/she will type: "/nick kiara".

As we can see, that nick is already registered by someone else (me). So choose one that is still available, like: bontakun.

It appears that bontakun hasn't been registered. Otherwise, we would just see the previous message again.
Now we know that it's available, we can register that nick by typing: "/msg NickServ REGISTER password email".
** Use a valid e-mail address since your code will be sent to that account.

Now you'll get to see this:

Check your e-mail and copy your confirmation code. Mine looks like this:

Press "Enter".

You should see: "bontakun sets mode: +r" in your status window. The "R" stands for "Registered".
Take a look at your client window's titlebar. You will see: [Status: bontakun [+ixr]...]

The i, x and r are modes, and they stand for:
i = invisible
x = host mask
r = registered
When entering a channel to download files, be sure to disable your host mask by typing: "/mode nick -x".
In my case it would be: "/mode bontakun -x". You will see this message in your status window:

Everytime you start mIRC and connect to irchighway you have to identify yourself by typing: "/msg NickServ IDENTIFY password" in your status window.
There are scripts available on the Internet that can identify you automatically when you connect to a server.
You can find out about such a script in our tutorial: Useful Scripts.
