** Connect
--> Go to your Sysreset folder and double-click on mIRC:

--> The program will run and you will see this pop-up:

Sysreset is freeware, but mIRC is shareware. Therefore, this pop-up window will always appear during startup.
If you want to get a licensed version of mIRC and get rid of this pop-up, you'll need a registration code.
You can either pay $20 via paypal on the mIRC site, www.mirc.com, or get a code from us for free
(You can find the code in our next tutorial: Register).
--> Click on: Continue. A new window will appear on the screen:

--> Fill out the text boxes.
It would be better if you type a fake e-mail address. This will prevent you from getting spammed.
I would also advise you to use an original nickname since there is a high possibility that
someone else already has that nick registered.
Don't forget to fill in your alternate nickname just in case.
--> Click on the + icon:
before the word "Connect".

--> Click on "Servers".
--> Search for "Irchighway" in your list of networks:

*Note In case you don't see these servers, download the latest servers.ini file from mIRC.
Direct link: www.mirc.co.uk/servers.ini
Save it in your subfolder called "system" from your Sysreset folder, restart mIRC and there it is.
--> Go to "Local Info". Make sure you have the same settings as below:

** Your IP address and Local Info will be filled in automatically after you've connected to the server.
--> Click on the icon:
of IRC. Your window should look like this:

--> Click on "Options" and copy these settings:

--> The explanation of these settings are as follows:
** User addresses: When someone joins a channel, you'll be able to see that person's address
** Query message: When someone sends you a private message, your client will blink.
** Hide ping? pong! event: If you don't check this option, then every X minutes,
you'll see this "ping/pong" message in your main IRC window (It's really annoying, trust me).
** Cancel away on message: If you become inactive for 30 minutes you'll see this message in your status window.
This message is rather unnecessary in my opinion, so I choose to cancel that message.
--> Click on "Messages" and copy these settings:

--> Now, we're going to specify DCC settings. These settings are very important for you to be able to receive files
and connect to file-servers. Make sure you have the same settings as what is shown below:

--> Now click on "Server" and copy these settings again:

--> Click now on "Server" and again copy these settings:

--> Now you can click on: OK
--> Move your mouse cursor to the "lightning" icon, and click on it.

--> Your client is now trying to connect to one of the servers of Irchighway.
--> Once you're connected, you'll see a bunch of text going by. That's what we call MOTD or Message of the Day.
--> This is how your window should look:

--> Although you're now connected, you still need to join the channel.
--> Type "/join #forever-more" in your status window, and press "Enter".

--> A new window will appear that looks similar to this one:
CONGRATULATIONS! You have now officially connected to and joined our channel.
If you don't want to keep on typing /join #forever-more or /join #otherchannelname,
you can simply add the channels to your favorites.
--> Go to your "Favorites" icon:

--> Once this pop-up appears, click on "Add".

--> Fill in the required information. Once you're done, click with your mouse again on: Add.

** Leave the forms blank if you don't know what to type.
--> After you've clicked on "Add", choose the network:

--> When you find it, click on: OK.
--> Now click again on: OK.

--> The channel is now in your favorites. To add more channels, just simply repeat this process.
